Your eye care team at Kendall Eye has six tips to help you improve the health of your eyes:
- Do your eyes feel OK? That’s fantastic news! However, many eye disorders do not produce symptoms until later. That is why it is critical to have annual eye exams.
- Make a plan to quit damaging habits like smoking. Smoking has a negative impact on your entire body–including your eyes. Smoking raises the risk of macular degeneration, which is a potentially deadly disease that can lead to blindness.
- Wear sunglasses both in the sunlight and on overcast days. The sunglasses you choose should block 97 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB radiation.
- Spend a lot of time on the computer? Consider an exam for prescription computer glasses with special blue light filtering to protect your eyes from any damage.
- Practice safer contact-wearing. Wash your hands before and after you insert your contacts. Also, disinfect and replace your contacts on a regular basis to keep your eyes safer and your vision clearer.
- Eat healthy foods that are good for your eyes, such as leafy green vegetables and fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
Your eyes are one of your most precious possessions. Make sure you take the necessary precautions to keep them healthy!
